Michael Unger, the newly appointed Director of Programming at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, brings nearly a decade of experience as Program Coordinator, where he developed engaging and innovative programming. With a background that includes work with the Science Fair Foundation of BC and Nerd Nite Vancouver, Michael is well-equipped to step into 2025 with the Space Centre’s strategic priorities of connecting people, science, and culture.
In his new role, Michael will lead a talented team of science communicators to create programming that bridges the past and future. Central to this vision is the integration of cultural perspectives on astronomy, including exciting new initiatives that highlight Indigenous knowledge systems, celebrate the history and significance of the Sen̓áḵw lands, and share diverse stories of the cosmos.
Under his leadership, the Space Centre is poised to inspire curiosity and connection through programming that honors the land, its stories, and the transformative power of science and culture.
